Remember Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Say NO to Nuclear Weapons

76 years ago on  6th & 9th August nuclear weapons were used for the first time on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.  The world is now burdened with 13,400 nuclear weapons.  Just one can destroy a city.  The UK Government has just committed to INCREASE its nuclear warheads by 40%.  Nuclear weapons are a threat to humanity and to the environment.

Squandering money, time and research on developing nuclear weapons robs the world of the resources needed to alleviate poverty, tackle climate change and find solutions to the COVID 19 pandemic  – actions that would create lasting, sustainable  security.

Response

· Urge your MP to sign EDM 1667 calling the Government to abandon plans to increase warheads and work for nuclear disarmament https://cnd.eaction.org.uk/EDM1667

· Find out more about the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).  https://www.icanw.org/There are 86 signatories and  55 states parties.  The UK is NOT one of them. Is your country on the list?
