Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaksi: calling on UK to sign Nuclear Ban Treaty

Seventy-two years after the first and only use of nuclear weapons  – when atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki –  nuclear weapons have been banned through the 2017 Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Recognising the catastrophic consequences of nuclear weaponry, the 2017 UN treaty – when it comes into force – will prohibit the use, development, testing, deployment, possession and transfer of nuclear weapons, and requires the total elimination of all arsenals. We are calling on the UK government to sign the treaty.
